Methodology
Each date is converted to a date-only UTC value and each clock time to seconds after midnight. The starting timestamp is subtracted from the ending timestamp, then the result is decomposed using 86,400 seconds per day, 3,600 per hour and 60 per minute.
Worked example
From 10:15:30 on 1 June to 12:45:45 on 3 June is 2 days, 2 hours, 30 minutes and 15 seconds, or 50.5042 total hours.
