Methodology

How this calculator works

The calculator maps monthly compensation to a ₱500-spaced monthly salary credit, applies the employee/member and employer contribution split, separates the MPF layer above the regular ₱20,000 salary-credit ceiling, and shows EC as an employer-side amount for employed members.

Worked example

Reading the result

If compensation is above the regular SSS ceiling, the calculator still shows the regular SSS part separately from the MPF part, making the payslip-style split easier to audit.

Accuracy checklist

Validate your Philippines estimate

  1. 1Confirm the contribution base rather than assuming it equals total salary. Worker category, age, ordinary earnings, bonuses, minimum or maximum earnings and the Advanced salary-credit estimate period can change which percentage or cap applies.
  2. 2Keep employee and employer amounts separate. The employee share can reduce take-home cash, while the employer share normally affects employment cost or retirement funding and should not automatically be treated as a deduction from the employee's gross pay.
  3. 3Compare the Philippines estimate with payroll records and Social Security System Philippines. Voluntary contributions, exemptions, annual caps, pay-period rounding and year-to-date maximums may require a more detailed payroll or fund calculation.
  4. 4Save the inputs, selected options and calculation date with the result. If the estimate informs a payment, return, contract or application, rerun it when the Advanced salary-credit estimate rules or your underlying figures change and compare the updated breakdown with the earlier version.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Does this use a salary credit model?+

Yes. It maps compensation to a monthly salary credit band and caps the credit at the current calculator ceiling.

Does it show MPF separately?+

Yes. Salary credit above the regular SSS ceiling is shown as a separate MPF layer so high-salary results are easier to review.

Does it show employer share?+

Yes. Employed mode separates employee share, employer share and EC. Self-employed and voluntary modes show the member paying the combined share.

Why should I still check the official table?+

SSS contribution schedules can change and payroll categories can affect treatment. The official table remains the final reference for remittance.
