Methodology

How this calculator works

The calculator uses the standard amortisation formula to estimate monthly instalments, adds optional insurance or monthly charges, and tests extra repayments or upfront prepayments for payoff time and interest saved.

Worked example

Reading the result

For a Rs2,000,000 personal loan over three years, the calculator shows base instalment, monthly insurance or service charges, total interest, fees, total finance cost and debt-to-income pressure.

Accuracy checklist

Validate your Pakistan estimate

  1. 1Enter the amount actually financed after any deposit or initial payment, then use the lender's quoted nominal rate, term and fee schedule. Keep purchase costs, insurance, taxes and recurring charges separate unless the loan agreement confirms that they are financed.
  2. 2Compare the scheduled payment with total interest, fees, cash needed upfront and the remaining balance—not only the headline monthly amount. Test a higher rate or lower income as a stress scenario, and check whether extra payments trigger penalties or change the lender's schedule.
  3. 3The Pakistan calculation is an amortisation and affordability illustration, not an approval or product offer. Reconcile it with a written lender quote, the applicable Personal loan planning terms and any local disclosure requirements before making a borrowing commitment.
  4. 4Save the inputs, selected options and calculation date with the result. If the estimate informs a payment, return, contract or application, rerun it when the Personal loan planning rules or your underlying figures change and compare the updated breakdown with the earlier version.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Does this include personal loan fees?+

Yes. Upfront fees and monthly insurance, tracking or service charges can be added to the total cost.

Can I test extra repayments?+

Yes. Enter extra monthly payments or a one-off prepayment to estimate lower interest and faster payoff.

What is debt-to-income?+

It compares monthly debt payments with monthly income. Lenders may use their own affordability rules.

Will my bank payment match exactly?+

Not always. Lenders may compound, charge and schedule repayments differently, so this is a planning estimate.
